What SET Masters Students Say
Alex Rozhniatovskyi
The university offers a convenient format and schedule for studying, which can be combined with a full-time job. However, it can sometimes be challenging, especially if you want to submit everything on time and read additional materials. Personally, my studies take about 20-30 hours per week.
It’s great that you can choose disciplines within the course, allowing you to pick what aligns with your interests. However, you will still study not only technical subjects but also management, which is given a lot of attention. I advise future master’s students to apply if they already have an idea for their thesis project and a desire to start their own startup. Otherwise, you’ll need to think quickly after enrolling.
The university team does a lot to improve the learning process and support us as students. There’s also the SET University Community, which is not limited to just students. Here, you can form a team for CTF, listen to lectures from guest speakers, and address your queries.

Many new acquaintances and impressions from studying for a master’s degree! I expect that with the knowledge gained, we will be able to implement projects that will help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who need assistance not only in the form of donations but also through new approaches and developments. Studying is convenient. There is an LMS with all lecture recordings and useful additional materials. Another big plus is that the program does not have a bunch of unnecessary subjects that you are forced to attend. There are many elective courses, allowing you to tailor the program to your needs. My favorite, by the way, is Web Security.
FAQ
What is the class schedule?
Classes take place once a week outside regular working hours.
What is the price per credit?
Each course is made up of a certain number of ECTS credits, as indicated in its description. One credit costs 3000 UAH.
How will the learning process be organized?
The program is delivered online (Zoom lectures + materials on our LMS platform). You’ll have one online session per week in off-work hours, as well as homework, tests, group or individual projects, and Q&A sessions with instructors.
Will I be considered a university student?
You won’t receive a student ID or be able to participate in our official student organizations. However, you will gain access to other online privileges available to students (e.g., student access to cloud platforms, IDEs, Microsoft products, and discounted online learning resources).
What if a course doesn’t suit me?
We provide a course description and prerequisites on our website. If you don’t meet the prerequisites or find the program unclear, the course may not be a good fit. We recommend raising any questions you have with our representative, who will contact you once you submit your application—this way you can make an informed decision.
I don’t have a technical background—can I still study?
Yes, if you’re motivated and eager to learn. We advise reading the course description on our website carefully to see if the content is relevant and understandable for you. We also recommend bringing up any concerns with our representative, who will contact you after you apply—this allows you to make a well-grounded decision.
What do I need to know before making a decision?
→ These are master’s-level courses, so there are certain academic requirements. For instance, you must attend at least 50% of sessions to complete the course successfully, and meet deadlines for homework and other assignments.
→ Also, please note that these courses are only offered once a year, so if you stop midway, we won’t be able to offer a similar course in the near term.
→ Some courses include optional in-person activities in Kyiv. This is not a requirement and won’t affect your grade, but it’s good to be aware of.
