Program overview

SpaceTech Bootcamp means four days of intensive work with projects and ideas in tracks to strengthen sustainability and resource recovery in Ukraine. Yep, SpaceTech is not only about SpaceX and Starlinks, but also about using AI, computer vision, and satellite data for everyday living. 

 

During ideathon you’ll be supported by mentors who will help you improve your product mindset and pitch your project, as well as top minds from the industries you will be working with

TRACKS AND CHALLENGES

Track 1: Satellite capabilities for disaster and crisis management

Track challenges
  • Monitoring of forest fires caused by natural or military factors
  • Informing about natural or human-made disasters using satellite data
  • Monitoring of infrastructure damage and restoration using satellites
  • Mapping floodplains using satellite data

Track 2: Space innovations to support distributed energy in Ukraine

Track Challenges:
  • Predicting the amount of solar and/or wind energy that can be produced by a local community
  • Optimisation of the distribution and operation of renewable energy sources in the overall energy mix.

Track 3: Space data for agricultural sustainability

Track challenges:
  • Predicting the yield of various crops in new environmental conditions after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station
  • Finding solutions to adapt the agricultural sector to new climate challenges.

Track 4: Innovative tech approaches for space solutions

Track challenges:
  • Implementation of AI/ML models for data analysis and precise forecasts
  • Use of computer vision approaches to analyse satellite images.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

You must be ready for intensive training for 4 days

You intend to develop your startup or idea after the ideathon: working on attracting investments, creating jobs and monetization

Your level of English is Upper-Intermediate and higher

Having a team and product at the MVP stage will be an advantage

Rhonda Shrader

Rhonda Shrader is the Executive Director of the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (NSF I-Corps) Bay Area as well as Berkeley Haas Entrepreneurship, where she teaches two popular lean startup courses, Lean Transfer and Startup Disco. She also leads UC LAUNCH, a curriculum-driven accelerator for students, faculty and alums across all 10 University of California campuses. As an entrepreneur, she was an early team member of MIT spinout Organogenesis, one of the first publicly traded regenerative medicine companies. She has founded or was an early stage team member of startups in biotech, behavioral health, non-profit, retail and AI. She is an active advisor for NASA spinoff BrainAid as well as the Innovation Chair for Invisible International. She earned an undergraduate degree in neuropsychology and premedical studies from Harvard and an MBA from Berkeley Haas.

Vera Petryk

Vera Petryk is a marketer with over 12 years of experience, 7 of which as a marketing director. She has just ended her 3-and-a-half-year journey as the Chief Marketing Officer at EOS Data Analytics, a global AI-powered satellite imagery analytics provider.

Do you invest in my project?

No, we do not invest in businesses. The key value of this program is to gain new knowledge, skills, and networking for the successful development of your idea or product.

Does filling out the application guarantee getting to the ideaton?

No, it doesn’t. Among all the applications, we will select a limited number of participants and startups to join the ideathon.

I only have an idea for a Space Tech project, can I participate in the ideathon?

Yes, we consider participants with both projects and ideas.
