How Ukrainian Startups Are Solving Healthcare Challenges: Highlights from the Generation H Initiative
16 / 1 / 25Ukraine is confidently establishing itself as a leader in HealthTech innovation, thanks in part to collaborations among specialists at industry events.
One such event was the launch of the Generation H program, organized by SET University in partnership with the Tokarev Foundation. The program brought together participants from IT, science, and medicine to create breakthrough solutions aimed at supporting mental health, improving access to medical services, and rehabilitating those affected by the war. The program culminated in a Demo Day, where 13 teams presented their startups and innovative healthcare solutions.
Key ideas included mental health solutions, AI tools for reproductive health analysis, telemedicine platforms, and other groundbreaking innovations. The grand prize of $5,000 was awarded to the team Ovul for their AI-powered solution for hormone analysis based on saliva—a simple and accessible way to monitor reproductive health.
The event opened with talks by Pavlo Benesh, co-founder of Photothera Labs, and Emma Popova, EMEA Health Advisor at Microsoft. Following the opening, a panel discussion titled Revolution in HealthTech: From Innovation to Global Impact explored the future of healthcare innovation.
The Generation H initiative consisted of two key stages: Ideathon and Bootcamp. The five-day Ideathon provided participants with the opportunity to develop HealthTech ideas from scratch. Following this, 16 teams participated in a two-week Bootcamp, receiving expert mentoring, participating in workshops, and preparing for investor presentations. This transformative experience allowed participants to refine their projects alongside industry leaders.
Generation H is the beginning of a significant mission. The program lays a strong foundation for building a HealthTech ecosystem in Ukraine to tackle urgent challenges—supporting mental health, ensuring access to medical services, and creating innovative approaches to the rehabilitation of soldiers and displaced individuals.
In 2025, Generation H plans to grow even larger: more innovators, more global partners, and more life-changing solutions.
